Czech elections

Is the Zeman era over?
One of the successor candidates, Andrej Babiš, will probably be permanently out of the political mainstream if he loses in the second round of the presidential election. There is every chance for this, because the pollsters are confident of the victory of the inexperienced Petr Pavel. The former chief of staff also managed NATO's Military Committee. He considers himself a "center right" blessed with social sensitivity. Throughout his career, he is strongly pro-Western, supporting military aid to Ukraine and the introduction of the euro. Unlike his predecessor, Zeman, he would not veto the same-sex marriage law.
Two weeks ago, none of the eight contestants obtained more than half of the votes needed to win the first round, so they advanced to the second round with a superior majority compared to the others.
