He fled, then canceled the public holiday!
Frustrated by the catastrophic economic crisis, tens of thousands stormed the presidential palace in the capital, Colombo. The head of state had already fled before. According to defense sources, he was protected by the military in a secret military bunker. The protesters blame him for the country's disastrous economic situation. Shortly thereafter, the Prime Minister resigned and left the country.
Thousands of demonstrators gathered, hundreds climbed over the fence of the presidential palace. Sources said soldiers fired in the air to disperse the crowd while the president was taken to safety.
There is huge corruption in the country and the country had no source of income because foreign companies took their capital out of the country, similarly to Hungary. Orbán tells the Hungarians that it is because of the war, while the Ukrainian currency is worth more than the HUF.
