The equipment is less than 1% compared to the People's Army!
Dear Readers! We would like to share with you information that will make you aware that Hungary is really capable of defending itself!
Let's start with the data of the old people's army!
In 1988, the number of peacekeepers in the People's Army was 106,800; 4 reconnaissance and 1 landing assault battalions, 1 radio technical brigade, 11 air defense artillery and missile regiments, 1 combat helicopter regiment protected the country's borders and airspace. In addition, a number of news, electronics combat, chemical defense, supply, repair, transport, and other units and subunits, as well as various military, research, and educational institutes, were included in the order. The troops have 113 fighter jets, 96 combat helicopters, 1,435 tanks, 2,310 armored transport vehicles, 27 artillery rocket launchers, 1,750 camp artillery guns, 270 anti-tank guns, approx. 500 air defense weapons and approx. 50 self-propelled bridges were in service.

At the end of 2006, the Hungarian Armed Forces had 78 independent military elements, 44 garrisons and 24,890 personnel. In 2018, it will have 23,950 soldiers. The number of reservists in 2005 was 90,300, of which 75,000 were land, 15,400 aircraft and air defense. During the same period, the number of mobilizable personnel was 2.66 million, of which 2 million were fit for military service. In 2011, the Ministry of Defense proposed the establishment of 8,000 reserve personnel, this level is planned to be reached by 2014. At the beginning of 2012, a total of 17,757 soldiers served, out of a total of 22,406, leaving 4,649 vacancies. The number of contractual reserves was 2,541. According to the data of March 2012, the average salary of soldiers was HUF 389,522 gross in the case of officers, HUF 191,157 gross in the case of non-commissioned officers and HUF 137,425 gross in the case of the crew. It is easy to calculate that a maximum of 8,910 troops could be deployed in the event of war. Currently, 5-6,000 people can be deployed across the country. The Orbán government has reduced the amount earmarked for defense to 0.7% of GDP, raising it to 1.66% in 2021. Prior governments spent 1.7% and 1.8% on national defense, respectively.
